Rock Hill Police are still following leads on an alleged rapist who kidnapped a student from University Place’s parking lot and sexually assaulted her off campus, according to Brad Redfearn, lieutenant with the Rock Hill Police Department.
The police have interviewed the victim, Redfearn said, and the investigation remains active.
Redfearn added that he did not know if surveillance footage of UP’s parking lot was available.
University Place officials have not yet responded after The Johnsonian contacted them on Thursday.
Officials with Innsbrook Commons are working with the police department and could not disclose information regarding any security footage in the parking lot, said one apartment complex employee.
At around 2 a.m. Wednesday morning, a 20-year-old student walked out of her University Place apartment to retrieve something from her car, according to the original police report.
She was approached by a black man wearing a black hood and skullcap and threatened by a knife. The man coerced her into driving them to Innsbrook Commons, an apartment complex located at the intersection between West Main Street and Constitution Boulevard, the report says.
The man forced the student between two cars and assaulted her, the report says. After he finished, he told her that he had just given her AIDS, the report says.
