Rock Hill Police are still following leads on an alleged rapist who kidnapped a student from University Place’s parking lot and sexually assaulted her off campus, according to Brad Redfearn, lieutenant with the Rock Hill Police Department.

The police have interviewed the victim, Redfearn said, and the investigation remains active.

Redfearn added that he did not know if surveillance footage of UP’s parking lot was available.

University Place officials have not yet responded after The Johnsonian contacted them on Thursday.

Officials with Innsbrook Commons are working with the police department and could not disclose information regarding any security footage in the parking lot, said one apartment complex employee.

At around 2 a.m. Wednesday morning, a 20-year-old student walked out of her University Place apartment to retrieve something from her car, according to the original police report.

She was approached by a black man wearing a black hood and skullcap and threatened by a knife. The man coerced her into driving them to Innsbrook Commons, an apartment complex located at the intersection between West Main Street and Constitution Boulevard, the report says.

The man forced the student between two cars and assaulted her, the report says. After he finished, he told her that he had just given her AIDS, the report says.

The victim of a sexual assault early Wednesday morning was told by her attacker that he had given her AIDS after raping her, according to the original incident report.

At around 2 a.m., the victim, a 20-year-old Winthrop student, walked out of her apartment building at University Place to get something out of her car, according to the report.

That’s when she was approached by a black male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and a black skullcap, the report says. The man put a knife to her right side and forced her into her car, the report says.

The victim told police the male directed her to Innsbrook Commons Apartments, an apartment complex near the intersection of West Main Street and Constitution Boulevard.

Once at the complex, the male forced the victim to get undressed. The victim told police that the male forced her between two cars in the parking lot and assaulted her, the report says.

The victim said she did not fight back, because she feared for her life, the report says.

The victim told police once the male finished, he told her he had given her AIDS, the report says. He then fled the scene on foot.

A female student was forced to drive to an off-campus apartment complex and later sexually assaulted by someone police describe as a black male with a goatee in his mid-20s, according to an e-mail by Chief of Police Frank Zebedis.

Around 2 a.m. Wednesday morning, the student parked her car at University Place apartments when the male approached her. According to the e-mail, he was wearing a black nylon beanie and a black hooded sweatshirt.

He then forced the student to drive to an apartment complex on Main Street at Constitution Boulevard where she was sexually assaulted.

Rock Hill Police will help Campus Police investigate the incident, the e-mail said. Campus Police are asking students to be “vigilant at all times” and aware of their surroundings, especially at night.
