Public Disorderly Conduct
A non-student was arrested for public disorderly conduct at the Courtyard residence hall, Sunday morning.
At 1:33 a.m., Winthrop police responded to a call about a male committing disorderly conduct by repeatedly banging on a resident’s door and disturbing the floor’s other residents.
According to the police report, when officers arrived on the scene the suspect was outside, in the front of the Courtyard, smoking a cigarette and then flicked the lit cigarette into the front lawn. The report also states that the suspect smelled like the odor of alcohol.
When asked by the responding officers, the suspect refused to present identification. The officers then attempted to frisk the suspect; he then turned around and began banging his fist on the Courtyard front door.
The suspect was apprehended, sent to Rock Hill County Jail and is banned from Winthrop campus for 1 calendar year.
Assault and Battery
An officer responded to a fight in Richardson Hall on Sunday night.
At 11:19 p.m., the officer arrived at the Richardson lobby and noticed the victim had a severely broken and bloody nose and requested for EMS for medical aid, according to the police report.
According to the report, the victim stated he ran into the subject in the hallway, and the victim confronted the subject about money he owed him.
An argument then ensued in front of the elevator area. According to the report, the subject punched the victim in the face several times, causing his nose to break and bleed profusely. The subject punched him several more times until the victim was able to trip the subject to the ground, where they began to wrestle around.
The report states the RA then exited his room and separated them. The victim was taken to the hospital for further medical treatment.
