Mens tennis team on roll, beats Charlotte 49ers

Eagles dominate match as they gear up to return to conference play where they’re undefeated
The Winthrop men’s tennis team beat the UNC-Charlotte 49ers 5-2 on Saturday at the Memorial Courts.
The Eagles are 5-10 in the season and 1-0 in conference play.
Winthrop started ahead on the scoreboard as it won the doubles point.
In the No. 1 doubles match, Daniel Daudt and Sergey Belov beat Moritz Bernhoerster and Jesse Hutchinson 8-3, while Guy Kubi and Nadav Ruppin defeated Charles Martin-Lecamp and Anthony Davison 8-4 in the No. 2 doubles match.
In singles play, the Eagles won five matches. In the No. 2 singles match, Ruppin had no problems defeating Martin-Lecamp 6-2, 6-1, while Levy came back from one set down to beat Michael Anders 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 4 singles match.
In the No. 5 singles match, Bivens defeated Hutchinson 6-1, 3-6, 6-2, while Kubi beat Krzysztof Kwasniewicz 6-0, 4-6, 6-2 in the No. 6 singles match.
“We played a very competitive match against Charlotte today,” head coach Cid Carvalho said.
“It feels good to win two in a row. We are looking forward to playing our second conference match on Wednesday against Gardner-Webb,” he said.
The Eagles will be back in action at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday as they travel to Boiling Springs, N.C., to play a conference match against Gardner-Webb.
