Editor denies God

Republican candidate, Mitt Romney has always gotten flack for his religion. A lot of conservative Christians have likened Mormonism to a cult.

I’m obviously a huge democrat, but even I like Romney’s track record and welcome the possibility of a Romney presidency. I don’t care that he’s a Mormon. I wouldn’t care if he were a Neo-Pagan.

Mormonism, like all religion, however, is complete nonsense. Religions like Mormonism and Scientology are young enough for people to actually research their development and see how the faith actually started. Joseph Smith, the first leader of the Mormons, was a racist, sexually deviant megalomaniac. Even Mark Twain called him out on his crap.

More accepted religions like Islam and Christianity are so intertwined in our culture it’s difficult to see just how full of lies they are. They’re also much older, making it difficult to verify key parts of their formation.

I like Mitt Romney. I like my aunt’s family, who are devout Mormons. Mormonism, however, is a cult. All religions are cults. Just because they’re not stockpiling weapons and marrying children doesn’t mean they’re right. Just because a religion has become part of a government or culture doesn’t mean it’s not dangerous.

To devote oneself to a single ideology is foolish. The Bible, like the Qur’an and the Torah, is a piece of allegorical fiction. It’s not the word of God, nor is it completely useless.  There are many helpful life lessons in religion, but religion a whole is limiting to the human psyche.

Religion, like culture, asks people to abandon every aspect of themselves and sometimes commit acts they would never imagine committing. Religion and culture are the greatest threats to humanity. Our governments ask us to travel to remote locales and kill people. Our religions tell us how to behave in every situation. They tell us to make no decision without consulting God, because no one is capable enough to handle life on their own.

Religion is the oldest and most potent form of mind control that the few have employed to control the many.

Stay way from politics and culture. Stay away from religion. Stop going to church or temple. Stop praying. Stop witnessing. It’s all a lie.

Start forming your own beliefs and emancipate your mind from the shackles of prefabricated decision-making.

Religion isn’t anywhere close to true spirituality. True spirituality is admitting that no being can ever know the truth.

As for Romney, I’m fine with his Mormon affiliation. There’s no politician that hasn’t joined some religion. Mormonism started in the United States though, so he should probably tell people that makes him more American.
