Classes are expected to resume normal schedule Tuesday, according to a press release sent at 12:40 p.m. today.
Cost estimates of the damage are not available, but a time frame should be known later today of when that figure will be known, according to the press release.
The cause of the fire has not yet been announced but Winthrop officials have been told mechanicals are most likely the culprit.
Kinard should have power tomorrow but Owens and Bancroft Annex are closed indefinitely. Bancroft could be re-opened as early as in the next few days, according to the press release. Restoration expertise is on campus to do priority damage mitigation for areas affected by smoke and water. There is a 48-hour window for these to be effectively mitigated in such circumstances. Technology teams are working on recovering data from affected computers where recovery is possible.
Faculty and staff have been given opportunities to retrieve priority materials necessary for their classes by the end of today, with the exception of Bancroft occupants. Conditions in Bancroft are not yet suitable for that.
Rock Hill School District offered temporary classroom space to university officials but at this point that space is not needed.
