Members of the Winthrop community are encouraged to don their Winthrop gear on January 19 when Chuck Todd of MSNBC fame films “The Daily Rundown” live from Scholar’s Walk at 9 a.m.
Todd, the Chief White House Correspondent and political director for NBC, will make his way to campus alongside CNN Political Coverage Manager Steve Brusk and Steve Brook, managing editor of South Carolina’s The State newspaper as they discuss the media’s coverage of the 2012 presidential race.
The event will begin at 11 a.m. in the Richardson Ballroom of the DiGiorgio Campus Center and is sponsored by Winthrop’s John C. West Forum on Politics and Policy.
But, two hours before, Todd will broadcast “The Daily Rundown” right from Scholar’s Walk. Winthrop students are invited to come watch or just pass by.
“The Daily Rundown” is an hour-long weekday morning political talk show that airs on MSNBC and focuses on the top political issues of the day.
The show launched in 2010, where it was co-hosted by both Todd and Savannah Guthrie, another NBC White House correspondent. In 2011, Guthrie left the show to co-anchor on “The Today Show,” leaving Todd as the sole host for “The Daily Rundown.”
The show’s crew is welcoming spectators who won’t scream things and instead want a respectful crowd who will be watching a serious political show.
In addition to hosting “The Daily Rundown,” Todd serves as NBC New’s on-air political analyst for “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams,” “The Today Show,” and is a contributing editor for “Meet the Press.”
