Campus smoking ban still up for discussion

Similar to many schools across the country, the university is considering banning smoking campus-wide, as opposed to having the specified smoking areas.
However, a decision cannot be made until the Health and Wellness council, consisting of appointed faculty and students, decides to put a ban in place.
Michelle Mann, chair of the Council, said she has not scheduled a meeting yet but plans on addressing the issue in September.
“We can’t address the issue until the Council comes to a decision,” Sydney Evans, CSL chair, said.
Until the council establishes a new smoking policy, students are still allowed to smoke at the designated areas. These include the bench in front of Wofford Hall, beside Byrnes Auditorium and outside of Roddey Hall.
