Welcome Week includes hypnotist, SafetySuit

All Welcome Week events are free with a Welcome Week Pass that costs $10 with a Winthrop I.D. and $20 without. Individual event tickets will also be available at $5 for students, faculty and staff and $10 for everyone else.

                               

Here's the lineup, in order of appearance date:

-Playfair, an ice breaker event featuring games to introduce freshmen to each other, will be at 8 p.m. Friday, August 20, in the West Center. This event does not require the purchase of a ticket or Welcome Week pass

-City of God, a Latin hip-hop band, and comedian Buzz Sutherland will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, August 21, in Byrnes Auditorium. Cultural Event

-Who’s Bad, a Michael Jackson tribute band, will perform at 8 p.m. Sunday, August 22, in Byrnes Auditorium.  

-The Convocation Picnic is at 5 p.m. Monday, August 23, on the front lawn in front of Margaret Nance. Students will be served barbeque sandwiches and can pick up free items from different campus and community organizations. Singer/songwriters Jenn Grinels and Rebecca Loebe will perform at the picnic.

-Hypnotist Tom Deluca will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday, August 26, in Byrnes Auditorium.

-Slam poetry artist Colin Gilbert and Grammy nominated singers and frequent Winthrop visitors Sam and Ruby will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, August 27, in Byrnes Auditorium.

-The drum ensemble, Recycled Percussion, will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, August 28, in Byrnes Auditorium.

-Rock performers SafetySuit will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday, August 29, in Byrnes Auditorium.
