Music
The NAACP is hosting the Swaggajacked Tour, a benefit concert where students mock mainstream artists. The concert is at 8 p.m. on Friday, April 16, in Tillman Auditorium. Food and money donations are accepted and go towards the NAACP charity.

The Vision of Prayze Choir is performing their Annual Spring Gospel Explosion at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 18 in Tillman Auditorium. Choirs from local colleges will also be performing with Winthrop’s performers.

Bon Jovi is performing at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 22 at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte. Tickets start at $39.50

Taylor Swift is performing at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 30, at the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia. Tickets start at $25.

Plays and Dance

The theater department is presenting the musical “Godspell.” The play will be at 8p.m. Wednesday, Mar. 31 through Saturday, April 3 and at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 4 in Johnson Theater. Tickets are $10 dollars with Winthrop ID and $15 without. Cultural event


The Vision of Zion Dancers are performing at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, in Tillman Auditorium. The dancers exhibit different praise dances and will be accompanied by the Association of Ebonites Gospel Choir.

The All Greek Step Show will be at 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 22, in Tillman Auditorium. Tickets are $1.

The Spring-One Acts Play Festival will be at 8 p.m. Friday, April 9, and Saturday, April 10; and 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, and Sunday, April 11 in the Johnson Studio Theater. Tickets are $8 dollars with Winthrop ID and $15 without. Cultural event

The Student Choreography Showcase will be at 8 p.m. Friday, April 23, and Saturday, April 24; and 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, and Sunday, April 25 in Johnson Theater. The show will include several different genres including modern, jazz and hip-hop. Tickets are $8 dollars with Winthrop ID and $15 without. Cultural event

Art
The Society of Illustrators exhibit “A Play on Words” starts at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 1, in Dacus Library.

The Visual Communication Design Student Exhibition begins Monday, April 5, and ends Friday, April 16. The exhibit is held in the Lewandowski Student Gallery.

The B.F.A. Senior Undergrad Exhibit begins Monday, April 19, and ends Saturday, May 8. The exhibit will be held in the Rutledge and Patrick Galleries.

Dacus Library Development Committee is hosting Art 4 Books. Artists and designers around campus are selling jewelry, photographs, handmade clothing and other crafts at the arts and crafts fair. The event will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 21, in McBryde Hall.

The Interior Design Student Exhibition begins Monday, April 26, and ends on Saturday, May 8. The exhibit will be held in the Lewandowski Student Gallery.

Mentalist Craig Karges is performing at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, in Plowden Auditorium in Withers. Tickets are $5 with Winthrop ID, $10 for the public and free with DSU spring pass. Singer/songwriter Ari Hest is performing at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 8, in Dinkins Underground with singer/songwriter Zack Nichols. Tickets are $5 with Winthrop ID, $10 for the public and free with DSU spring pass.

Blues trio, Porter Davis, is performing at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 10, in Dinkins Underground. Tickets are $5 with Winthrop ID, $10 for the public and free with DSU spring pass. Cultural event

Movies
“The Clash of the Titans” premieres in theaters Friday, April 2. The remake of the 1981 Greek mythology film stars Liam Neeson as Zeus.

Following the 2007 documentary “Planet Earth,” “Oceans” premieres in theaters Thursday, April 22. The movie explores the under-water world and is narrated by Pierce Brosnan. “Nightmare on Elm Street” premieres in theaters Friday, April 30. This is a remake of the 1984 horror film.

Other
Walk for Peace, a fashion show to raise money for Blackman Road, is at 8 p.m. Friday, April 9 in Tillman Auditorium. The show will include fashion and vocal performance contests. Tickets are $3.

The Council of Student Leaders is hosting a cookout at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 23, on Dinkins lawn. The cookout will be a farewell celebration to Dinkins. Free event
