Acquisition of Operations Center does not mean more parking

Parking is absolutely off limits to students, faculty and staff at the university’s newly acquired operations center on Columbia Avenue, according to a priority e-mail sent by campus Chief of Police Frank Zebedis.

“NO PARKING” signs have already been posted in the operations center parking lot and violators are subject to be ticketed or towed, Zebedis said in the e-mail.

The university’s acquisition of the operations center comes after a $3 million deal with the City of Rock Hill that was originally forged in 2003.

Last October, the deal finally manifested and saw the city purchase 8.27 acres of the Winthrop Park property near the Coliseum.

Winthrop’s facilities management will house the operations center, while Rock Hill employees will move to the city’s new operations center on Anderson Road.
