A India Pale Ale for All Of Us

When it comes to beer, the IPA (India Pale Ale) is a style of brew that you either love or hate. Typically, the IPA comes with a sharper more hoppy taste and a nose that really speaks towards the characteristics of the beer. In addition IPA’s tend to have higher ABVs and lower specific gravities (meaning that they are not as heavy like a stout or porter and contain more alcohol).

Among all the IPA’s I have tried, one really stepped out and spoke to me, the proverbial “IPA for the masses,” Carolina Brewing Companies Endo IPA. I discovered this brew when I stopped by one of Rock Hill’s local establishments for a quick happy hour pint and found this gem available for $1. Skeptical and curious, I gave it a try and I’m glad I did. Endo is a surprisingly “light” IPA, where the “hoppiness” is pleasant and not overwhelming, and the nose has a just a faint hint of juniper (something I really dig). The finish is nice and clean, which makes for a beer that you can really sit down and enjoy. The brew is also not alcoholic, which makes it idea for a drink or two, or perhaps to pair with a light meal.

So if you are new to IPAs, an IPA guru or have had a falling out with IPAs, give Endo a try, you’ll be glad you did.
